Uncensored AI on GitHub: Project Types and Verification

Uncensored AI is a label used by different GitHub projects and hosted services. It does not identify one model, installation method or guaranteed behavior.

Distinguish what a result actually contains

Result typeWhat to verify
A desktop applicationIts actual publisher, supported platforms and release artifacts
A model checkpointThe model card, files, license and runtime support
A topic or curated listThe individual linked project's evidence; a tag is not a review
A hosted API with a similar nameThe operator, endpoint terms and model identity, separately from GitHub

The Locally Uncensored repository describes a desktop AI studio combining chat, image/video work and a coding agent, and lists Windows and Linux in its project description. GitHub identifies AGPL-3.0 licensing for the app. That does not automatically establish the license or hardware requirements of each model used with it.

Check a project before choosing it

Open its README, license, release history and current platform instructions. Establish whether the feature you need is implemented in the available release or described as future work. Then inspect the requirements of the exact model and workflow rather than assuming the application label determines them.

If you conduct a trial, use a bounded task and record actual outputs, settings and resource use. Check the documentation for any network or external service involved in the selected feature. This is an untested evaluation plan, not a confirmation of offline operation for every configuration.

“Uncensored” does not establish answer accuracy, output rights or compatibility. Nor does a GitHub project name prove that a similarly named commercial API is operated by its maintainers. Keep those decisions tied to their own primary evidence.
