PhotoCraft: Downloads, PSD Support and Photoshop Comparison
Identify ArtCraft’s PhotoCraft editor and use a concrete compatibility check before replacing a layered-image workflow.
PhotoCraft is the ArtCraft team's Rust image editor, identified by getartcraft.com/apps/photocraft and storytold/photocraft. It is distinct from ArtCraft's AI-generation studio.
What is documented?
As checked October 31, 2026, the official page lists layers, masks, adjustment layers, brushes, type and vector tools. It advertises layered PSD/PSB opening and saving, local operation and macOS, Windows, Linux and Web availability. Use its Launcher or standalone release links for the current build.
Its compatibility figures and feature claims come from the project. They do not establish full Photoshop parity for your documents, plugins, fonts or output requirements. “Free and open source” on the product page also does not settle the licence of every font, asset or third-party dependency you use.
Compare the task, then test a copy
| Your task | Check before adopting PhotoCraft |
|---|---|
| Retouch layered artwork | Masks, blending and adjustment appearance |
| Exchange PSD/PSB with a colleague | Reopen the saved copy in the receiving editor |
| Print production | Colour profile, bit depth and required export settings |
| Replace an automated workflow | Availability of the specific action or integration |
A useful first trial is one small file with the features you actually depend on. Save it under a new name, reopen it and compare both appearance and editability. Keep the original source file. A visually matching flattened export is different from a fully editable round trip.
