DeepSeek Harness GitHub: Repository and First Task Guide

Find the official DeepSeek Harness repository, understand its plugin architecture and prepare a contained first agent task.

GUIDE · SOURCES REVIEWED

The official project is deepseek-ai/deepseek-harness, also linked from DeepSeek's Harness page. DeepSeek Harness, abbreviated dsh, is agent software; it is not itself a new language-model checkpoint.

What the README establishes

The repository describes an everything-is-a-plugin architecture built on Cordis. Its current entry path uses Node.js and a local Web UI; the README also links source-build and architecture instructions. It labels the project a developer preview with potential compatibility-breaking changes and identifies the repository licence as MIT, with separate third-party notices. Checked October 31, 2026.

Use the README's current setup and safety documentation instead of combining commands from older tutorials. A successful installation is separate from provider authentication, model availability and the cost of model calls.

Prepare one observable task

Before setup, choose a disposable project or a copy you can restore. Specify one output and the permitted files or tools. Review which plugins the task needs and what each can access. Keep any local service on the documented local interface unless you intentionally configure remote access.

After a first task, inspect the output file and changes, not only the chat message saying it completed. Record the runtime version, enabled plugins and any provider charges when assessing your own result.

Compare with a repository map

Harness software executes a task through tools. A Graphify knowledge graph instead helps an assistant inspect relationships in existing material. They solve different parts of a workflow.

Varwo reviewed repository documentation. We have not installed Harness, enabled plugins or run paid model requests, so this page makes no measured speed or reliability claim.
