OpenBot: CopilotKit, Desktop Agents and Robotics Explained
OpenBot names several projects. CopilotKit offers a customizable agent-workspace template; openbot.run presents a desktop agent app; openbot.org concerns smartphone-powered robotics.

Which OpenBot do you need?
| Search task | Source to open | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Customize an agent workspace for a company | CopilotKit OpenBot | The README calls it a beta template to clone and adapt |
| Download an app for persistent agent teams | openbot.run | Its site provides desktop downloads and describes using existing AI plans |
| Build a smartphone-based physical robot | openbot.org | A different robotics project, not the same download |
The literal SERP contained all of these identities. Do not apply one project's license, screenshots or setup instructions to another merely because their names match.
What the CopilotKit template provides
The README describes an agent platform with coworkers, browsers, files and explicitly granted tools, running on infrastructure you control. It identifies MIT licensing and says the repository is a starting point rather than a hosted service ready to sign up for. It also warns that the fresh local configuration admits requests as one administrator; sign-in must be configured before other people can reach a deployment.
That is a material setup requirement. A local demonstration is not evidence that a publicly reachable company deployment is correctly isolated.
Decide before downloading
Write down which project and repository you selected, where its state will live, the model connection you intend to use and which external accounts an agent actually needs. Start with a task using disposable files and an observable stopping point. Inspect the resulting files and action record before adding further access.
The desktop site's free-app language does not establish free provider usage. Verify its current pricing information and supported connections for your account. We did not measure speed, reliability or total operating cost, and the descriptions above are not a ranking of the projects.
