Herdr: Terminal Workspace for Coding Agents

Herdr: Terminal Workspace for Coding Agents. A source-based guide to identity, use and limits.

GUIDE · SOURCES REVIEWED

Herdr is an open-source terminal workspace for working with coding agents. Its maintainers describe a runtime that keeps terminals together and exposes agent status; it is not a new model provider.

What to inspect first

The official repository describes terminal panes, agent status and a command-line or socket interface. Start with its current setup instructions and check your operating system, terminal and agent requirements. Review which local files and processes the software will access before connecting an agent.

How to evaluate it

Compare it with your current terminal workflow using a small project: can you find a stalled agent, recover the right session and see which work belongs to which repository? The agent's own permissions still determine what it may read or change. A workspace manager does not independently guarantee that an agent's output is correct.

The project documentation was checked November 7, 2026. Varwo has not installed Herdr or tested its runtime.
