3D Room Planner AI: Compare Layout and Photo Design Tools

Choose between editable 3D layouts and photo redesigns. Compare 3DRoomDesign.ai, Planner 5D and RoomGPT by input, output and what to check before paying.

GUIDE · SOURCES REVIEWED

Choose an AI room planner by the result you need: an editable layout, a view generated from a floor plan, or a redesigned photo. These outputs can look similar in a screenshot but answer different questions. A style image does not prove that furniture will fit.

Official pages checked November 3, 2026. This is a comparison of published features, not a hands-on rendering or measurement test. We did not upload a room image, create an account or purchase credits.

Compare three starting points

ToolPublished starting input and purposeBest question to ask before choosing
3DRoomDesign.aiA PNG/JPG floor plan; advertises editable 3D scenes, material/furniture changes and browser sharingDoes the generated scene preserve your plan’s dimensions and openings?
Planner 5D AI Room DesignGuided room setup or a photo redesign, with related floor-plan and 3D featuresWhich specific feature produces the editable layout you need?
RoomGPTRedesign inspiration from a room photoDo you need visual style ideas, or an editable measured model?

3DRoomDesign.ai’s homepage says PDF and CAD files must first be exported to PNG or JPG. Its page advertises 10 free credits for new users. Those are the site’s stated terms on the check date, not a verified number of completed designs or an unlimited free plan.

Planner 5D distinguishes its Smart Wizard guided setup from Design Generator photo input. Its broader product also describes floor-plan recognition and 3D views. Confirm which features your actual account includes; a page labeled “free” does not establish that every render, export or AI operation is included.

RoomGPT’s homepage emphasizes a single photo and theme changes. That page alone does not establish a downloadable, dimensionally editable 3D model. For precise layout work, verify this output requirement explicitly rather than selecting a tool only by a convincing before-and-after image.

Prepare a useful first comparison

  1. Measure the room and note doors, windows, fixed units and furniture sizes.
  2. Decide whether the task is fit, style or presentation. Choose the input format that matches it.
  3. Try a small, non-sensitive example. Inspect wall placement, openings and scale before judging colors or lighting.
  4. Check editing, export format, sharing and credit consumption on the result you can actually obtain.

Before paying, confirm renewal terms, credits per operation, failed-generation charges, export restrictions and image retention in the provider’s current plan and privacy information. We have not verified paid account entitlements. Use the output as a discussion aid, then check physical measurements before ordering furniture or changing the room.
