MOI Qatar Residency Card Update: QID Photos and Renewal Tracking

A QID photograph update and a residence-permit renewal are different tasks. Check the photo-service rollout before looking for a new QR code, or use MOI’s existing RP Renewal Tracking page to follow an application.

What changed for QID photographs?

The Peninsula’s October 25 report describes preparations for updating ID photographs through approved studios. Its follow-up, updated October 27, attributes the proposed process to an MOI officer speaking on Qatar Radio and describes a phased launch. These reports do not establish availability for every account.

The follow-up describes this sequence when the service is available:

  1. Begin an official transaction that requires a photograph.
  2. If the existing photograph needs an update, receive a QR code through the official system.
  3. Present that code at an approved studio; the studio takes and submits the photograph.
  4. Wait for verification, then continue the original transaction.

The report says approved studios will be listed through official channels and that AI-manipulated photographs will be rejected. Check those channels for current requirements; we have not verified a universal studio list, price, launch date or image-size specification.

If no photo-update option or QR code appears, check the service’s current availability with MOI before assuming an account fault. A report about the rollout is not a promise that the option is enabled for you.

How to check an existing RP renewal

The official MOI inquiry description distinguishes application tracking from renewal tracking. Its renewal-tracking page displays a QID Number field and a verification-code challenge.

Open that official page and follow its instructions. Enter identification details only on the official service, complete its verification yourself and read the result in that session. Varwo does not collect QID numbers or perform the lookup for you.

That page tracks a renewal; it does not itself prove that a new application has been submitted, a fee paid or a permit renewed. The public page was reviewed, but the live lookup was not tested. The form requires JavaScript to operate.

The photo workflow above is attributed reporting. The linked MOI inquiry pages directly confirm the existing tracking options, rather than a universally available photo-update workflow. Current instructions in the government service govern your transaction.
