Ryanair Bag Drop Update: 60 Minutes from November 10
Ryanair changes airport check-in and bag drop from 40 to 60 minutes before departure on November 10, 2026. See who is affected and how to plan.
From November 10, 2026, Ryanair says airport check-in and bag drop will close 60 minutes before scheduled departure, replacing the current 40-minute cutoff. The airline's October 27 announcement says the change applies at all its airports. Its help-centre explanation confirms the date and airport check-in/bag-drop timing.
What changes?
| Travel date | Announced bag-drop closure |
|---|---|
| Before November 10 | Current 40-minute rule; check your booking for applicable instructions |
| November 10 onward | 60 minutes before scheduled departure |
The extra 20 minutes changes the deadline for completing bag drop. It does not mean you should arrive at the airport exactly one hour before your flight.
Ryanair says passengers who check in online and do not check a bag are unaffected by this bag-drop change. The airline gives security and passport-control queues as the reason for the earlier closure.
Is this a new baggage allowance?
The announced change concerns the airport desk deadline, not a blanket change to every cabin or checked-bag allowance. Check the baggage included in your booking and the current conditions of carriage separately. The airline says exceptions can be notified for a specific flight; follow your booking instructions. Airline sources rechecked November 4, 2026.
Work backward from your departure
For a flight scheduled at 14:00 on or after November 10, the announced bag-drop cutoff is 13:00. This is an arithmetic example, not an airport arrival recommendation. You still need time to reach the desk, queue and complete the process before closure, then pass security and reach the gate.
Before leaving:
- Check the travel date and scheduled departure in your booking.
- Check whether you have a checked bag or need airport check-in.
- Read your airline and airport instructions for arrival, documents and boarding.
- Allow enough margin to finish bag drop before its cutoff.
Airport check-in, bag drop, online check-in and gate closure are different steps. Do not reuse the 60-minute figure as the deadline for all four. For a disrupted or rescheduled flight, use current instructions from Ryanair rather than assuming this example resolves your case.
