Check the documented US Pro texting beta, RCS requirements and one-to-one limits before expecting your dot to appear in Google Messages.
You can text a ChatGPT dot through RCS on Android when your account has the texting beta. The official messaging guide says texting is rolling out to ChatGPT Pro users in the US and supports one-to-one conversations. A general dots rollout and this particular texting channel have different eligibility boundaries.
Open your dot's profile in ChatGPT and select Texting. Follow its phone-number verification, save the received contact card and start the conversation. On Android, enable RCS in the messaging application you use, such as Google Messages. Use the in-product flow; this guide does not provide a public number or a workaround for an ineligible account.
The documentation says text, photos and voice messages are supported. Approval requests lead back to ChatGPT for review. It says group chats, phone calls and FaceTime are not supported through texting.
The official guide says only you can text your dot and it can only text you. Setting up this channel does not grant access to your other text conversations. Your dot can use relevant ChatGPT/connected-channel context and already connected plugins within their permissions.
Keep the messaging channel separate from permission to use a connected service. If a task needs an app, check that app's connection and the action being requested. A successful conversation does not establish that an external task completed.
Confirm the account, plan, country eligibility and whether the rollout has reached you. If the channel is configured, check the verified number and RCS status. Do not assume that reinstalling an unrelated application or using another person's number changes eligibility.
